2010 Mini Cooper
The 2010 Mini Cooper is a unique and fun to drive car, if you like tiny little cars that get great gas mileage. Returned to the US market 8 years ago, the 2010 Mini is enjoying a continuing surge in popularity, with its classic look and great handling on the road. The 2010 Mini Cooper also has an impressive list of options both interior and exterior, as well as several design packages to choose from. The Mini 2010 is truly a large surprise in a very small package.
If fuel economy is on your list; how would you like 28 mpg city and 37 mpg highway? If it’s a quick take-off you’re looking for, the 2010 Mini Cooper can do 0-60 mph in a little over 6 seconds. If you want to look really cool, there is a snazzy convertible option that proudly displays its classic European style. The original hatchback becomes fairly glamorous when decked out with the Mayfair or Camden options.
The 2010 Mini Cooper has 3 engine options to choose from. The basic is a 1.6 liter 4 cylinder engine at 118 hp. The turbo charged version comes in a172 hp, and the turbo boost option tops out at 208 hp; not bad for a tiny little car! There is a little variance in mpg you get from the different engine options, but basically the difference is negligible, compared to comparable automobiles. The basic and turbocharged versions of the Mini Cooper 2010 both come standard with a 6-speed automatic transmission; while the turbo boosted option is the only one available with a 6-speed manual transmission. Another amazing feat for such a small car as the 2010 Mini Cooper is the great crash test ratings it received from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety; best rating for frontal crash and second best rating for side impact and roof crush testing.
The 2010 Mini Cooper interior front seat portion of the cabin offers a lot of head and legroom; while the back seat is almost non-existent for actual seating. The split rear seat backs do fold down to increase the tiny 6 cu. ft. of trunk space. The ride is rather stiff and experts recommend declining the sport suspension and larger wheel options, for this reason. The 2010 Mini Cooper’s dashboard instruments and radio controls have been criticized as difficult to decipher, with some of the control knobs located in awkward positions.
The 2010 Mini Cooper handles like a fine sports car, but the compromise is a very stiff and choppy ride. Those used to a rigid sports car suspension probably won’t notice the lack of cushion over the bumps. The list of options for both the interior and exterior of the 2010 Mini Cooper is extensive and numerous style packages are available to choose from, including multiple color combinations. With all of these optional features and many more, the 2010 Mini Cooper is almost a build your own car kit.
If a compact economy car with big style and lots of optional features, plenty of power and good safety ratings, is right down your alley, you may want to have a look at this European tradition, the 2010 Mini Cooper.
