The 2005 Honda Odyssey: Once Again the Number 1 Minivan in America

The 2005 Honda Odyssey is an exceptional minivan just as its predecessors have been. It is still the most agile of the minivans and handles like a car on the road. Economical and family friendly as always, plus the reliability and quality you have come to expect; you can’t beat this 2005 Odyssey.

The 2005 Honda Odyssey has been given a total redesign for this year’s model. With other minivan manufacturers attempting to close the popularity gap, Odyssey 2005 has some great new features to keep it ahead of the pack. A stowable, plus-one seat for the second passenger row was added and an additional 2 in. of leg room for the third row of passenger seating definitely ups the comfort quotient. Now standard on Honda Odyssey 2005, side curtain airbags and a new stability system protect all 3 rows of passenger seating. A more rigid chassis on the 2005 Honda Odyssey and better suspension really improve the stability of the ride. The windows in the sliding doors will now open for added ventilation in the rear compartment.

The 2005 Honda Odyssey still boasts it standard 3.5 liter V6, but has added an i-VTEC V6 which changes from 6 to 3 cylinder operation as needed with a transition so silently and smoothly that you can’t tell when it happens unless you’re looking at the indicator lamp on the dash. These 2005 Honda Odyssey V6 engines actually have 15 hp more than last years.

Some real cool optional accessories offered on this 2005 Honda Odyssey are a DVD rear entertainment system with a large 9 in. screen; also included are a navigation system with an 8 in. screen and rearview TV camera and exceptional voice recognition allowing it to accept up to 637 voice commands. It easily understands and translates city and street numbers and destination specifics.

The 2005 Honda Odyssey really pulls out the stops with 4 trim level offerings: the LX, EX, EX Leather and a new Touring model. The EX Leather and Touring models have a sun roof standard. Bucket seats are on board in the first and second rows, with a split bench third row seat that can fold into the floor. There is also a Lazy Susan type storage tray in the floor of the second row that doubles as storage for the removable child-size center seat in that row. The 2005 Honda Odyssey has three zone automatic climate control as standard, along with a CD player, overhead conversion mirror and an integrated second row sunshade. All of the 2005 Honda Odyssey models are still equipped with the active noise control system that electronically eliminates noise generated by mechanical, road and wind sources. Touring models have power liftgates and run-flat tires designed to go 125 miles at 50 mph, as well as rear obstacle detection.

The 2005 Honda Odyssey has earned the Best Buy designation from Consumer Guide A in its Family Hauler Minivans class, for its smart use of space, its comfort, convenience and safety features in a family vehicle. The 2005 Honda Odyssey will retain its place as the highest rated and most popular minivan for yet another year.
