Full Review by Ben

I consider myself a fairly serious cook and like to have good tools to work with in the kitchen. Until a couple of years ago I had Chicago Cutlery. It was good but nothing to write home about. I finally got to the point that I wanted to upgrade the cutlery collection, in particular the chef’s knife as I use it probably 80+% of the time. I read all the cutlery reviews I could get my hands on and then headed out to try out the brands I’d narrowed the selection down to. When I got to the Wusthof-Trident Classic chef’s knife, I knew I’d found nirvana! I ended up purchasing the Wusthof Classic 10″ chef’s knife. I have to tell you, this is one FINE piece of cutlery! It is beautifully crafted and has a fine, balanced feel in the hand. And it is REALLY sharp. When I was taking it out of the plastic box it was in, I was holding it at an angle with the bottom of the box open and the tip pointing down. Well, the knife suddenly slid freely and easily pierced my hand! Fortunately, such a sharp knife made a clean cut that healed quickly! Keeping the edge sharp takes only a few swipes across the sharpening steel to fine-tune the edge for easy chopping and cutting. I became so spoiled with this wonderful knife that I ended up quickly replacing all my knife collection with Wusthof models and gave the old Chicago Cutlery to a niece that was just setting up housekeeping. Then I turned my sister on to Wusthof when I gave her a knife as a Christmas present. I’ve given a couple more to her as gifts. When I was at her home at Thanksgiving, I was delighted to see not only the knives I’d bought her, but also a few others that she’s picked up for herself. Be aware, such fine cutlery does come at a price! However, this is definitely one item where you really do get what you pay for. The quality is outstanding, and this cutlery is so well made that it’ll probably outlast you and be passed on to your heirs!

Wusthof Chef Knife Testimonials

I love my new big sharp Chef’s knife. Whenever I need to cut or slice something really thin, like tomatoes, or lemons, I look forward to using it. I also use it for cutting meat and it’s huge help as it slices very easily and helps me a lot. I have enormous respect for it as it is so sharp and we get along fine. It makes me feel ‘classy’ !. It also sharpens very easily and comes out even better than before. This morning I used it to cut the crusts off my daughter’s sandwich for her lunch and it was like a helpful friend, doing the job quickly and beautifully.Thanks.
